The Titanic

Wendy: "Rachael, come on. You have to admit that I'm the best. You owe me. You should just thank me right now."
Rachael: "Wendy...I'm not going to thank you until the night is over."
Wendy: "What? Why not? You're already really excited and it's going to be great."
Rachael: "Wendy, do you remember the Titanic? I'm sure at the beginning everyone was all excited and thought that things were going to be great. Then what happened? Oh yeah, they all died. I don't think they were very thankful by the end of the night. Get my point?"
Wendy: >dumbfounded< "Oh gosh, I love you."

Some of you may be confused by this brief conversation I had with my old roommate, Wendy. Well let me let you in on a little secret, I was a little confused at first too. Here's what happened. I had been utilizing my sisters free laundry at her apartment for most of the day when I received seven phone calls. All in which I missed. My phone was in the bedroom next door. I figured since no one had been texting me all day, it would be alright. Boy, was I wrong. When I picked up the phone and saw that I had 5 missed calls, I knew something was up. So I called her back.
Wendy: "Rachael! Where are you?!"
Rachael: "I'm at my sisters apartment, why?"
Wendy: "I'm coming to pick you up. Tyler thinks that we're hanging out tonight."
Rachael: "Wait, say what now?"
Wendy: "I was texting Tyler all about you and how you're so cute and how you guys should totally get together and how you think he's super cute and all of those things that we discussed the other night when he all of a sudden just said, 'well, what time are we hanging out tonight?' So you better get your butt over here. Now. I'm freaking out."

Sidenote: She thought she was freaking out? This is the guy I've had a crush on since last semester. And I was still dressed in a t-shirt and sweats. And I was a massive blob of snot and coughing. She was freaking out? I think not.

Rachael: "WHAT?!! Wendy, I'm sick! I already turned Bryce down for a date tonight. I'd feel so bad. Just go hang out with him."
Wendy: "NO. I'm not going alone. I said you were coming."
Rachael: "Fine...come pick me up."
Wendy: "K, bye!"

Last night, I had a great night. It was heaven. He is everything that my imagination believed him to be. He should be exalted already. We went bowling for an hour, went and got milkshakes (well, they did at least), and headed back to his place (which is about five feet from my place, and talked. Afterwards however, is when the real magic went down.

Over text:
Rachael: "This is my official thank you."
Wendy: "I need more than that since he texted me asking me to give you his number. Instead I gave him yours."
Rachael: "You may have my first born child."
Wendy: "That's better."
Rachael: "Really though, I owe you big time."
Wendy: ":) You don't even know how much haha"
Rachael: "What do you mean?"
Wendy: "I know he likes depth. When you left I explained that you have this very mature side to you that takes a while to show up. Thats why I said all the things worth knowing about you were things that took time. So he knows there is more to you that will take time. Those wonderful sides of you that you hide."
>About five seconds later<
Tyler: "Hey, this is Tyler. I wanted to ask you for your number but I totally forgot, so then I asked Wendy to give you my number so then you could give me your number. I guess I just feel that I should get your number from you, but Wendy gave me your number. So anyway I was hoping you were okay with that, personally I would have liked to get your number face to face but I spaced it."
Rachael: "How about this :) >Rachael and Tyler are face to face< Tyler says, "hey Rachael, before you leave could I get your number?" Rachael replies, "it's about time."
Tyler: "Close enough I guess lol. I'm so sorry I forgot to ask you."
Rachael: "Don't beat yourself up about it!"
Tyler: "Ok, I won't. Anyway we need to get together again and talk because I still don't know all that much about you, but I did enjoy spending time with you tonight, I guess we have Wendy to thank for that."

And that ladies and gentlemen, is where this conversation must turn into a private ordeal. Don't hate.

Ps. Elinor, if you're reading this, I'm writing your letter today. Expect some mail in the near future :) Love to you :)
